The accident occurred just after 9 PM in the 300 block of W. Addison St. according to a police department spokesperson. The injured officers were taken by ambulance to Mount Sinai Hospital. One officer was reportedly in critical to serious condition and the other was in serious to fair condition.

It is also being reported that around 20 minutes later three police officers were injured in an unrelated accident. In this case, officers reportedly discharged their weapons on several occasions while chasing the driver of a red Audi.

The police gave pursuit to the vehicle because it matched the description of a car that escaped from police in the Town Hall District after the Audi driver allegedly tried to hit two police officers on bicycles.

The Audi was stopped near the intersection of Verenice and Melvina, and when the officers approached on foot the car accelerated and hit one of the officers. Shots were fired and the driver then fled the scene.

Police again spotted the vehicle and as the officers approached the driver intentionally hit the police car and also struck one officer who was already out of the vehicle. The offender then ran away on foot and police caught him a block later.

The officers involved sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Two were taken to our Lady of Resurrection Medical Center. No one was hit by gunfire.

And believe it or not, Chicago police officers were involved in a third injury accident on Wednesday night. NBC news is reporting that just after midnight two police officers were injured after their vehicle struck the building at Ohio Street and Cicero Avenue. They were on an emergency call when their squad car was hit by another vehicle, knocking them into the building. Both police officers were taken by ambulance to Stroger Hospital. Their injuries are reportedly non-life-threatening.
